Building a Mega Hotspot for the Port of Dublin: Together with WireFree Communications Ltd. in Dublin DanCell has designed a Mega Hotspot for the Port of Dublin. The Mega Hotspot will cover all of the port area of Dublin and design to accommodate the commercial ships visiting the harbour.
Coverage of the Port of Dublin
The Mega Hotspot uses CDMA2000 revA and will initially offer up to 3.1Mbps in download and up to 1.8Mbps in upload. This is higher than the satellite connections that are commonly used by the commercial ships. A further advantage is the much lower latency that will be experienced compared to satellite.
The Mega Hot spot may later become an integrated part of a nautical broadband network (NauticCom) covering the whole of the Irish Sea with similar high data rates and low latency.
